Her Own Table exists to be a place you can trust with your time and your attention. That trust extends to your information too, so here is a plain-language account of what we collect, why we collect it, and what we do (and don't do) with it.
This policy applies to herowntable.com (the "Site") and any newsletter or email communications sent from Her Own Table.
Her Own Table is based in Indiana, USA. If you're outside the United States, please note that your information will be processed in the United States, where privacy laws differ from those in your home country.
What you give us directly:
What we don't collect:
What's collected automatically:
We use MailerLite to manage the newsletter list and send emails. When you subscribe, your email address is stored in MailerLite's system, which has its own security and privacy practices. You can review those at MailerLite's privacy policy.
Every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link. Using it removes you from the list immediately and permanently, no explanation required.
Google Analytics uses cookies, small text files stored in your browser, to track how visitors move through the Site. This doesn't identify you personally. If you'd prefer not to be tracked this way, you can:
Some content on the Site includes affiliate links, meaning we may earn a small commission if you make a purchase through them, at no additional cost to you. This never affects what we recommend; we only link to things we'd stand behind regardless of the commission. Full disclosure details live in our site footer and on any post where affiliate links appear.
We don't sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone. We share it only with the service providers that make the Site and newsletter function:
Each of these providers has its own privacy practices governing the data they process on our behalf. We may also disclose information if required by law, such as in response to a subpoena or court order.
We keep your email address on file for as long as you're subscribed to the newsletter, plus a reasonable period after you unsubscribe for record-keeping purposes. If you contact us directly, we retain that correspondence only as long as it's useful for responding to you or improving future content.
If you're a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected and to request its deletion. If you're in the European Union or UK, you have rights under the GDPR, including access, correction, and erasure. Contact us at carol@herowntable.com to exercise any of these rights.
Her Own Table is written for and directed at adult women. The Site is not intended for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we collect, but no method of storage or transmission over the internet is completely secure. We can't guarantee absolute security, and we encourage you to use good judgment about what you share with us directly.
If we update this policy, we'll change the effective date at the top of this page. Meaningful changes, like a new way we use your data, will also be flagged in the newsletter itself.
