You've set the table for everyone else. Now it's your turn.

Effective Date: July 1, 2026

Her Own Table exists to be a place you can trust with your time and your attention. That trust extends to your information too, so here is a plain-language account of what we collect, why we collect it, and what we do (and don't do) with it.

What This Policy Covers

This policy applies to herowntable.com (the "Site") and any newsletter or email communications sent from Her Own Table.

Her Own Table is based in Indiana, USA. If you're outside the United States, please note that your information will be processed in the United States, where privacy laws differ from those in your home country.

Information We Collect

What you give us directly:

  • Your email address, when you sign up for the newsletter. That's it for the sign-up form. We don't ask for your name, phone number, or anything else unless you choose to reply to an email or contact us directly.
  • Anything you send us, if you email us or reply to a newsletter. We keep that correspondence to respond to you and, where relevant, to improve the content we send.

What we don't collect:

  • We don't have a comment system on blog posts, so there's no public commenting data to collect, store, or moderate.
  • We don't collect payment information. If you purchase The Quiet Mind Guide or any other product, that transaction happens entirely on Gumroad, which has its own privacy policy governing your payment and billing details. We only receive confirmation that a purchase happened, along with the email address associated with it.

What's collected automatically:

  • Like most websites, ours uses Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the Site: which pages get read, how long people stay, what device or browser they're using, and general location (city or region level, not a precise address). This is aggregate, pattern-level information. It helps us write more of what's useful and less of what isn't.

How We Use Your Information

  • To send the newsletter you signed up for, on the schedule we've set, using the email address you provided.
  • To respond to you if you write in with a question or comment.
  • To understand what's working on the Site, using the aggregate data from Google Analytics, so we can keep improving it.
  • To let you know about relevant products, like The Quiet Mind Guide, within the newsletter itself. We will never sell your email address, and we will never share your list with an unrelated third party for their own marketing.

Email Service Provider

We use MailerLite to manage the newsletter list and send emails. When you subscribe, your email address is stored in MailerLite's system, which has its own security and privacy practices. You can review those at MailerLite's privacy policy.

Every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link. Using it removes you from the list immediately and permanently, no explanation required.

Cookies and Analytics

Google Analytics uses cookies, small text files stored in your browser, to track how visitors move through the Site. This doesn't identify you personally. If you'd prefer not to be tracked this way, you can:

Affiliate Links and Sponsored Content

Some content on the Site includes affiliate links, meaning we may earn a small commission if you make a purchase through them, at no additional cost to you. This never affects what we recommend; we only link to things we'd stand behind regardless of the commission. Full disclosure details live in our site footer and on any post where affiliate links appear.

Who We Share Information With

We don't sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone. We share it only with the service providers that make the Site and newsletter function:

  • MailerLite (email delivery)
  • Google Analytics (site analytics)
  • Gumroad (product purchases, if you buy The Quiet Mind Guide or another product)
  • Any hosting provider that stores the Site itself

Each of these providers has its own privacy practices governing the data they process on our behalf. We may also disclose information if required by law, such as in response to a subpoena or court order.

How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep your email address on file for as long as you're subscribed to the newsletter, plus a reasonable period after you unsubscribe for record-keeping purposes. If you contact us directly, we retain that correspondence only as long as it's useful for responding to you or improving future content.

Your Choices and Rights

  • Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in every email.
  • Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you by emailing carol@herowntable.com.
  • Request deletion of your email address and any associated data, subject to what we're legally required to retain.
  • Opt out of analytics tracking using the methods described above.

If you're a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected and to request its deletion. If you're in the European Union or UK, you have rights under the GDPR, including access, correction, and erasure. Contact us at carol@herowntable.com to exercise any of these rights.

Children's Privacy

Her Own Table is written for and directed at adult women. The Site is not intended for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we collect, but no method of storage or transmission over the internet is completely secure. We can't guarantee absolute security, and we encourage you to use good judgment about what you share with us directly.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, we'll change the effective date at the top of this page. Meaningful changes, like a new way we use your data, will also be flagged in the newsletter itself.

A Note on What You'll Find Here
I'm not a doctor, and I'm not a financial advisor. Nothing on this site is medical or financial advice, and it isn't a substitute for a real conversation with a licensed professional who knows your history.

What you will find here is research, translated into plain language, and my own experience navigating this life stage. Take it as a starting point for your own thinking, not a final answer. If something here touches on your health or your money, the next right step is always a conversation with someone qualified to speak to your specific situation.

Some links on this site are affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission if you purchase through them, at no extra cost to you. I only recommend things I believe in. Some content may also be sponsored. I'll always tell you when it is.
